Christmas 2009

Jason
Jason spent the summer in Shinjo-san, Japan. He taught English to the elementary and junior high school students at the village schools. He had a fabulous time and didn’t want it to end. Jason is currently a student at Utah Valley University, majoring in International Business.

Ryan
Ryan spent the summer in Germany, attending the universities in Berlin and Fulda. He also traveled to Poland and spent a few weeks with Jason in Japan. Ryan is currently a student at Utah Valley University, majoring in Integrated Studies—Peace and Justice Studies and German Studies.

Melanie
Melanie and Ron and Angela are looking forward to Ron’s graduation this Spring from the University of Utah in Economics. They live in Holladay and often visit the grandparents—that’s us!

Brent and Vickie
We took the boys to Disneyland and had a marvelous vacation. It was Jason’s first time there. Ryan had been several times. Melanie and Ron honeymooned there. Brent went once in about 1968 and Vickie hadn’t been there since about 1975. It could possibly be the “happiest place on earth”—next to our home, of course.

Thanksgiving 2009

It's time to give thanks for all the little things. We are truly blessed beyond belief. I frequently think I am leading a charmed life, including living in a castle.
Thanks Brent! for putting up with me and my demands.
Thanks Ryan! for keeping me in stitches and growing into such a fine young man.
Thanks Jason! for being such a tender son and always knowing the right thing to say to me.
Thanks Melanie! for turning out great in spite of being your parent's first experiment. And for making me a grandma.
I love you all. Forever.

Jason is 23!

JASON DOUGLAS RICHEY

On August 5, 1986, our family was joined by Jason Douglas Richey. A beautiful baby with jet black hair. He slept well. He ate well.
He was a perfect baby.

Melanie was 7 years old and loved him immediately.

Ryan was 4 years old and said, "He is so adorable."

And he adored his aunt Jennifer.

Sometimes, his family called him, "Peepers". Can you see why?

Jason spent his first two years with his family in a two bedroom apartment in Orem, Utah.
He shared his bedroom with his brother and sister.
Then when he was two years old, his family moved to a small home in Orem on 700 North, a couple of blocks away.

Jason is a very kind-hearted soul. He always treats others well and was a very good little boy.

When he was four years old, his family moved to Twin Falls, Idaho; home of the famous Shoshone Falls.

He went to preschool at Acorn Learning Center.

He attended to elementary school at Sawtooth Elementary.

After 6th grade, his family moved back to Orem, Utah.

Jason went to Oak Canyon Jr. High.

He attended and graduated from
Timpanogos High School.

During his teenage years, he participated in all kinds of activities.

Including but not limited to:

hair styling, hiking, river tubing, door sizing, and popcorn jumping.

Jason served
a mission to Japan.

It's hard to
believe that baby boy is all grown up!

Happy 23rd Birthday
Jason!
